In case you didn't see it under the comments, here's the latest:
We will hold two meetings next week—one on Monday night at 6pm with José in the architecture building in the salon and one on Thursday night at 6:30pm with Heather I think in Macy 106B.
If you are interested in the project you must attend one of these meetings.
Then we will all meet on the Saturday following these meetings as a big group (time and place TBA).
We will use the head count from the Monday and Thursday meetings to determine who is committed to the project and going to participate (and, therefore, who will be eligible for the stipend).
So, do some documenting this weekend/week and come to one of these two meetings with images in hand for a brief discussion.

Some things that have occured today:
I talked with Ramon in LA this morning and he says he has a group of students interested in participating on the blog--feedback--if we want. they also want to do a "mural" of their own to have in the exhibit here (so, they want to watch and hear us on the blog and they would like to do a version of the project out there).
From the meeting tonight:
Meghan and Ronna had a set of images taken from just traveling around town--some of typical suburbia, which they think is typical of Charlotte but not what they like about the city, and some of "ethnic" areas along Central avenue or of immigrant rallies, etc. We talked about possibly taking a broad look at Charlotte in popular culture, maybe from the outside in (meaning searching for images that might be held in the marketplace of ideas that depict Charlotte from a popular/outsider's perspective). And, we then talked about pairing or contrasting those images with "authentic" landscapes within Charlotte that outsiders might not know much about--immigrant areas, NoDa maybe, South End, etc.
We also suggested that for the next time we meet as a big group the students might have two sets of things to pin up and discuss: firstly, a set of "sketch" images that might be ideas for a large "mural" image--so, these would be studies for a large scale image depicting some set of issues, possilby two or three individual ideas for different large projects; and then possibly one sketch of an idea that the student felt was compelling enough to pursue by sending to another student for collaboration. We felt that this process might lead to two kinds of products that might meet the student's needs: small, individually crafted pieces and larger pieces. In the end, we might be able to exhibit the "mural" alongside some of the initial sketches or source images. And, we were thinking that the format for the big pieces (the "murals") might be 4'x 12' so that if we exhibit them alongside the Woodbury folks' painting then the format (horizontally oriented, size) would help tie unlike things together. The smaller pieces might be similarly formatted but maybe only 11x17 or something.
Also, we will plan to meet as a big group this saturday at 1pm and then again as a big group two weeks later.
